Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week.
When I started drafting this post, I realized there was going to be a lot of overlap from last week’s Top 10, so I’m going to focus on backlist titles that I want to read. If you want to know the frontlist titles I’m super excited about, check my June 18th post.
Each month I create a list of about 15 titles to focus on reading, and each month I promptly disregard that list because I’m a mood reader and my moods vary (see, any Goodreads annual challenge) and therefore what I read varies too.
So here’s the attempt of what I’d like to read in July and August, and since I’m compiling my July TBR as I’m writing this, hopefully this time, I can stick to a plan. Or, close enough to a plan.
This list includes past ARCs, library books both physical and audio, owned books, and owned audiobooks because Audible made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.
Okay, so there’s a bit of overlap from my backlist SFF TBR post, but I really want to read these and I am determined to find the time amid all of the shiny new releases coming out this year (why 2019, why did you have to have so many amazing and interesting new books??).
This list has a phantom 13th book, because I’ll need to reread The Snow Queen before I can get to The Summer Queen, since it’s probably been at least 15 years since I read the first book.
I have a feeling that a lot of these, particularly the ones I own, will be shuffled back into my December TBR, since a lot of these feel more like winter reads than summer books (yeah, I have no idea how my mind works either, and I live in it 24/7). Most likely, I’ll hem and haw and push back The Fiery Cross, The Stone Sky and The Traitor Baru Cormorant to the end of the year, for reasons that I have no idea how to explain.
Others, like The Unhoneymooners, Maid, Brave New World, and How Long ‘Til Black Future Month, are library books that are on hold through Overdrive that I anticipate coming due sometime in July/August. Although knowing my luck they will all come in at the same time because no matter how well I artfully arrange my suspend-holds dates, they always come in at the same time. WHY? Why is this??
But since I’ll be making my July TBR any day now, I’ll make sure to put the ones I really want to get through on that list.
Wish me luck.
I’m going to need it.
