June 2021 TBR

There are a lot of repeats on this one, since I got through three (three) of my June ARCs last month and while I’m happily working my way through The Jasmine Throne, I am feeling very, very behind and I do not like it.

But right now I’m up to my eyeballs in packing material and boxes, and this first week of June is non-stop moving so…hopefully it’ll settle down soonish. After my mother-in-law leaves, and I can finally embrace my introverted self once again. This is a woman who does not know silence, and the inanity of conversation (literally, everything must be commented upon and turned into a story) is driving me up the wall.

Here are the books. I’m hoping to read the last of the June ARCs, and get through my July ARCs so I can be caught up. I had wanted to gotten way ahead and be focusing on July and August releases, but May was not a great month reading wise. The only one that’s not an ARC is Luck of the Titanic, which is on hold and I hope *fingers crossed* will come in shortly.

No blurbs this month, since I’m literally typing this out in eked bits of reclaimed time.

  1. I have been wanting to read “We Have Always Been Here” – I love sci-fi/thrillers! Now that I’ve finally finished my MAY TBR pile (better late than never) I should really start with this one! I just finished “Shimmers” by author J.P. Strecker (https://jonathanstrecker.com/) I was searching for a sci fi/horror combo and my google searches led me to this book. I have always been fascinated by grounded science fiction, and how it could affect our normal day to day and man, did this book give me the chills thinking about the reality of something like the “Shimmer” showing up in my town. The author manages to weave fact and fiction in such a flawless and believable way that you truly need to do some independent research to pick it apart. It’s chilling, exciting and heartwarming all at once. Had a very “Stranger Things” vibe in the group of friends vs anomaly sense. Definitely will be thinking about this one when I’m out hiking this summer! If you check it out I would love to hear your thoughts. Happy Reading!
