Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
I don’t have a lot of books with super duper long titles! I like short, snappy titles. Titles longer than five words and I’m left dangling in the breeze, struggling to remember what the beginning was.
Oh, the struggles of having the memory of a goldfish.
But this is what I’ve got, both on my personal shelves and my Goodreads TBR.
I have owned both of these since I was in middle school! Weird how long ago that was. I was sitting around thinking that my fifteen year high school reunion was this year (I didn’t go, don’t even know if there was one—I wasn’t even invited to our ten year). Anywho, both are excellent, although massive trigger warnings for If I Should Die Before I Wake (I don’t know if this one has aged well or not, particularly since I have not read it nor looked at its Goodreads profile in years).
My TBR books with seven words in the title! And a random assortment of young adult, adult and middle grade! I need to read Mindy Kim already, because it looks fantastic and because I loved the energy of her young adult book, I’ll Be the One.
Did you know I am a certified yoga teacher? I got my certification back in 2016, and I have never actually taught yoga! I had a not so pleasant experience with the other students in the course (nothing specific, just turned off by certain attitudes) despite having fantastic instructors. The culture was not for me, and I have laxed so far in my own practice that I can’t even say I practice yoga anymore…on or off the mat.
These are definitely my take a really deep breath and try to say the whole thing in one go titles. I will…eventually get to both.
I did cherry pick a little, particularly since I apparently have quite a few books on my TBR with five and six word titles…and not that many beyond that. Unless, of course, you count subtitles, in which case all of my nonfiction would be on this list.
So aside from The Woman Who Rides Like a Man and If I Should Die Before I Wake, all of these are on my TBR! Some of them have been on my TBR for…quite some time. So I should probably get to that, but time is short and my TBR is long.
What’s the longest book title on your shelf?
