Top Ten Tuesday: Book Hangovers

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s prompt is the last ten books that gave me book hangovers and wow that’s an intense request. Just the thought of these books is enough to send me into a book hangover, and I’m moving at a pretty decent clip right now.

The Good Hangovers

You know, those books that were so amazing that they consumed your soul, lit up your world and then…they were done. And you couldn’t fathom picking up another book—not even the sequel—because how could the magic ever be recaptured?

The Bad Hangovers

The ones that left you feeling like that time you mixed seven bottles of Natty Light with two shots of rum and coke and cheap red wine…all in one glass. And then had to go to class the next morning to hand in that paper you finished before the party. Shit, only me?

Anywho, these were the books that, for better or worse, made me feel like either giving up reading forever or abandoning that particularly subgenre forevermore.

What was your last book hangover?

    1. I’m sorry! Bad book hangovers are the worst. After absolutely hating The Night Circus (I just didn’t see what was so revolutionary—it seemed kinda fantasy standard?), I knew I probably wouldn’t read another book by her. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with The Starless Sea 😦
