Well October is just breezing on by, isn’t it?
This month has been a combination of, well, highs and lows.
- Two things are being published!!!!
- I’m writing again!
- My books are finally on bookshelves in my new house ❤
- I’m at my first library conference!
- I’m at my first library conference (woohoo imposter syndrome!!)
- My job has been giving me some headaches (woohoo imposter syndrome)
- I’ve read five books this month
I think the slower reading pace is just going to be my new normal. Things aren’t settling down and I don’t think they will—and so to preserve my joy of reading and erase some of the stress that’s been pulling me into a hopeless shell of hopelessness (yes I’m a writer, I have a way with werds), I’m going to say goodbye to my super secret goal of 200 books. My mental health is more important—and so is maintaining my joy of reading. Lately it’s been feeling more like a chore than fun.
What I’ve Read So Far
Some knockouts: Verity by Colleen Hoover, How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse by K. Eason, and The Color of Law by Richard Rothstein. The other two were okay but not my favorites. Have I done reviews for most of these? Heck no. I’m behind.
My Currently Reading
Ancestral Night is actually an audiobook, and I am loving Nneka Okoye’s voice and the story itself. I’m not very far in, but so far it’s really interesting and I’m trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I just started Twice in a Blue Moon, and tbh I’m hoping it gets a little better? I just am not feeling it? But I’m also not super far into it yet. And I haven’t even started The Library of the Unwritten but it’s on my TBR so I don’t forget!
I just want to brag a little bit. I haven’t 100% finished decorating them because I’m testing their structural integrity, but I love how the paint, the stain and the look turned out.
How’s your reading going this month?
